A family weekend in the Lake District with Travall
Denym, a member of the Travall team, recently visited the Lake District, England, for a weekend away with her family, including her two dogs, Marlo and Neo. Here's what Denym got up to and how she made the journey a breeze with the help of her perfect-fit car accessories from Travall!
Our family trip to the Lake District
One rainy weekend, my family, our two dogs, and I packed up the car for a long weekend in the Lake District. We stayed in Windermere from Friday to Monday, ready to cheer on my dad as he took on The Lap, a 47-mile ultra marathon around Lake Windermere.
The Journey and Our Travall Setup
Before setting off, we made sure the car was ready for the adventure ahead. With two dogs, plenty of luggage, and running gear, our Travall accessories made packing and travelling so much easier. The boot liner protected the boot from muddy paws and wet towels, while the bumper protector saved the paintwork as the dogs hopped in and out. Our dog guard and divider kept the boot organised; the dogs had their own comfortable space on one side, and our bags were neatly stored on the other. The rubber mats were a must-have too, especially with the typical Lake District weather!
Friday: Family Dinner and a Cosy Night In
We arrived in Windermere on Friday evening and settled into our cottage before sitting down for our family dinner. After a lovely meal, we spent the evening relaxing. Marlo, our younger dog, quickly found the comfiest spot in the house and curled up with Grandma on the sofa and Neo at her feet. It was the perfect calm before a busy weekend ahead.
Saturday: Race Day
We were up bright and early on Saturday as Dad headed to the starting line for The Lap. The rest of us got ready for a day of following his progress around the route, maps spread out on the dashboard as my grandparents navigated “the old-fashioned way”. We stopped off at different points to cheer him on, taking the dogs for short walks between checkpoints and enjoying the stunning scenery along the way.
By the time we met Dad at the finish line, almost 13 hours later, we had hot coffees ready and two very excited dogs waiting to greet him. Watching him cross the line was such a proud moment for all of us.
Sunday: Exploring the Lakes
The next day was all about relaxing and exploring. We started with a wander around Near Sawrey to see Beatrix Potter’s house, followed by a peaceful walk around Coniston. Later, we took a boat ride on Lake Windermere, the views were absolutely beautiful, and the dogs loved the gentle breeze on the water. Finishing the day with a well-deserved Chinese takeaway.
Monday: Bowness and Home Time
On our final morning, we popped into Bowness for a bit of shopping before rounding off the trip with fish and chips overlooking the lake. It was the perfect way to end a lovely family weekend before loading up the car (mud and all!) and heading home.
A Smooth Journey with Travall
Travelling with dogs can sometimes be a bit chaotic, but having the right setup made the whole trip run smoothly. The dogs were comfortable, the car stayed clean, and we didn’t have to think twice about where everything would go.
It was a weekend full of family moments, laughter, and Lake District scenery and Travall helped make the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.
